Strong winds in the area Saturday, March 9 damaged structures and caused trees to fall, damaging a home and a vehicle. Firefighters with Versailles Rural Fire Protection District responded approximately 12:55 p.m. Saturday, March 9 to properties south of Versailles. Damaged were, clockwise from above, buildings at LC Produce off Highway 5 south of Versailles. A large lean-to partially collapsed and was partially ripped away, along with a building that stood infront of the open shop door in the photo. A tree fell on a truck belonging to Fern Vogt at her residence on Old 5. Another tree was split and collapsed on the porch and home of Charlie Richardson on Hoosier Road of Old 5. Fire chief Jim Towles reported the strong wind, hail, and rain lasted for only a few minutes but “you could trace a line from the damage it did.” (photos courtesy Versailles Rural FPD)
