Arthur Wesley Wade, 85, of Barnett, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020 at Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City.
He was born June 23, 1935 in Indianola, Iowa to Hazel (Bishop) Wade and Percival Arthur Wade. He moved with his family to Miller, S.D. when he was a child.
He graduated from Miller High School and enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard.
He married Delores Dixon Sept. 16, 1958. To this union four children were born: Wanda, Jonna, Patrik, and Karla.
He worked at John Deere, Van Dyke Supply, and Huron Manufacturing. In 1974 he moved to Ida Grove, Iowa where he worked at Gomaco Corporation many years.
He married Connie Jean (Miller) Hausman May 17, 1979
She preceded him in death April 27, 2010. Together they built WesCon Auction Service. In 1996, they moved to Barnett. He worked as a heating and cooling technician until his retirement. They found their home in the Golden Beach Community.
He was a member of the Moreau Fire Protection District and Commissioner of Gravois Special Road District No. 8 until his death. He was a member of Golden Beach Community Church, Golden Beach Crime Watch, and Golden Beach Community Center.
He enjoyed working with his hands, fishing, camping, hunting, singing, dancing, playing cards and board games with his grandchildren, and, in later years, he enjoyed writing poetry.
He is survived by children Wanda and spouse Milo Schiernbeck, Jonna Wade, Patrik and spouse Tim Andrews-Ryan, and Karla Ehlers; stepchildren David and spouse Glenda Hausman and Jodi and spouse Tom Nielsen; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at Golden Beach Community Church.
