Ruben Rubio, Jr., 65, of Stover, died Saturday, July 24, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.
He was born Dec. 10, 1955, in Alice, Texas, a son of Ruben O. Rubio, Sr. and Ovidia Garza.
He married Debbie Nevares Aug. 28, 2001 in Plainview, Texas. She survives of the home.
He started working at age 15 at Bob Gardners Chevrolet, then at Ring Around Seed Company, and Pioneer as a welder.
He played drums many years with different bands and for Big Rock Church.
He moved to Stover, and worked as a butcher at G2M, the sawmill, and retired as a custodian from Morgan County R-I School District.
He enjoyed fishing, antique shopping, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and watching and listening to Gospel Music on television, his animals, helping people in need, and anything with eagles on it.
He is survived by his wife; sons Ruben Rubio III of Sedalia, Rico Soto of Kansas City, Robert Nevares and wife Barbara, Jason Nevares and wife Ann-Marie, and Edward Soto, Jr. all of Texas; daughters Valerie Soto of Stover, Crystal Pedroza and husband Joe, Sandra Rubio, and Sulema Rubio, all of Texas; 18 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers Richard Rubio and wife Maria of Texas, and Rudy Rubio and wife Maria of Ohio; sisters Becky Branderhorst and husband Mike of Eldon, and Diana Sanchez of Texas.
In addition to both of his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Robert Rubio and Domingo Rubio; sister Elsa Rubio; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover.
Funeral services are scheduled 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, at the funeral home in Stover with burial to follow at the Big Rock Cemetery in Barnett.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Morgan County R-I School District.
