Nell Nora Draffen
Nell Nora Draffen, age 92, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born January 21, 1928, in Fortuna, a daughter of the late Hiram E. and Hazel (Wright) Shepp.
On October 7, 1951, at the Versailles United Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to Charles Franklin Draffen, who preceded her in death on February 21, 2017.
Nell was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church where she served as secretary for many years and was a member of United Methodist Women.
She enjoyed cooking and gardening, especially her roses. She and Charles went antique shopping every chance they could and Nell was an avid collector of milk glass. Most of all, she loved her family and watching her grandsons grow to be fine young men.
She is survived by her sons, Kenny Draffen and wife Beth and John Draffen and wife Vanessa all of Versailles; grandsons, Travis Draffen of Versailles and Ryan Draffen and wife Mindy of Republic, Missouri; sisters, Janet Chase and husband Mike of Liberty, Missouri and Sally Jones of Lenexa, Kansas; sister-in-law, Joan Shepp of Versailles, Missouri and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Hiram Wilbert Shepp and brother-in-law, Bob Jones.
Due to the current pandemic, there will be no public visitation. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17th, at the Versailles United Methodist Church with Pastor Lora Cunningham officiating. Masks are required in the church. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Versailles United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women or the Golden Age Living Center.
