Owners of vintage military vehicles are being invited to join a “Convoy of Remembrance” scheduled Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 in honor of “all those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.” The convoy will travel from Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5178 in Gravois Mills, travel north on Highway 5 to Versailles, turn east on Highway 52 through Barnett, and finish at the VFW Post 2442 in Eldon. Organizers of the “Convoy of Remembrance” are seeking older military vehicles to join the convoy. Those who wish to participate, but do not have a military vehicle, may enter a classic vehicle, decorated in memory of service personnel or with a United States or Prisoner of War flag. No floats will be allowed in the convoy, as speeds will exceed that of a standard parade. A mechanic and tow truck will accompany the convoy in case of mechanical issues. Convoy line-up will begin 7 a.m. Monday, May 27 at VFW Post 5178, 115 Troutdale Road in Gravois Mills. The convoy will depart promptly at 9 a.m. Vehicles may join the convoy at specific locations near Gravois Mills, Versailles, Barnett, and Eldon. Locations will be announced. Lunch and other activities are planned at the end of the journey at VFW Post 2442 in Eldon.
Those planning to participate should register by Wednesday, May 8. Call: 573-372-3564 or email: email@example.com
