Renita Kurtz at her teller station Tuesday, Sept. 10 at US Bank in Versailles
Renita Kurtz, a teller at US Bank in Versailles, was recognized by her coworkers, bank patrons, and the community Tuesday, Sept. 10 for her 45 years of customer service.
Her teller window was decorated with large balloons and she was presented a desk plaque reading, “Congratulations! Your great work over the years has helped our company, our customers, and our community reach their potential. Thank you for your dedication and service.”
Kurtz began working in the banking industry Sept. 12, 1974 with Morgan County Bank on the square in Versailles. The bank changed names over the years, but Kurtz continued to work as the bank became, in succession, American Bank, Mercantile Bank, First Star Bank, and US Bank.
Her career began in bookkeeping, but being a teller is where her heart is. She said her favorite parts of the job are waiting on customers, helping people, and making friends.
When asked about what she was most proud of accomplishing, she replied, “The relationships I’ve built with people in the community. US Bank has been good to me and I really like what I do.”
She has no plans to retire anytime soon and said she just takes “one day at a time.”
