Jennie Sue Ellis, age 61, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019, at her daughter’s home in Sedalia. She was born March 20, 1958, in Kansas City, Kansas, a daughter of the late Henry, Jr. and Joan (Schnirch) Johnson.
On July 1, 1994, in Sunrise Beach, she was united in marriage to Pat Deane Ellis, who preceded her in death on April 25, 2014.
Jennie worked at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles as a certified nursing assistant for over twenty-five years until her retirement.
She enjoyed being outdoors gardening and even won a “Yard of the Month” award in Versailles. She showed constant generosity through her exceptional care of the patients at the nursing home and her love of giving gifts. She loved her grandchildren and extended grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. She was affectionately called “Granny” by family friends that got to know her.
She is survived by her children, Jessica Gerlt and husband Todd of Sedalia, Missouri and Joshua Warnke and wife Elise of Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Ashlyn Gerlt, Makenna Gerlt, Caden Gerlt, Willa Warnke and Ivy Warnke; her sister, Linda Miller and husband Duane of Versailles, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, family, and many friends.
Graveside services and inurnment will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 20th, in the Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ellis Fischel Cancer Research Center.
