The Morgan County Health Center announced it has signed a contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to continue to provide services for the federal year 2019. Under the terms of the contract, the Morgan County Health Center will be able to serve 504 clients eligible for WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) every month.
Women, Infants, and Children provides at no cost, specific nutritious supplemental foods, nutritional education and referrals to pregnant and breast-feeding women, postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5. To qualify for this program income guidelines must be met and clients need to be determined by a health professional to have a nutritional risk.
Participants are issued checks to purchase food packages that are specifically chosen to provide food high in protein, iron, calcium and vitamins A and C. These checks can be redeemed at authorized retail vendors for the exact foods listed on the check.
Those interested in applying or in need of more information should contact the Morgan County Health Center, 104 W. Lafayette in Versailles. The center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or call 573-378-5438 to speak with Nancy Witte, WIC Coordinator.
