A fire in the early morning hours Friday, Jan. 3 completely destroyed a 40 x 60 barn belonging to Wendy Rush on property located off Sale Barn Road northeast of Versailles. Firefighters from Versailles Rural Fire Protection District responded to the blaze. They were dispatched to the fire 2:41 a.m. and, according to Fire Chief Jim Towles, “the roof was on the ground when we arrived.” Towles suspects the fire was electrical in nature. The barn was a cattle-working barn and contained 10 large round bales of dry hay. No livestock were injured in the incident. (submitted photo)
