The annual Elks Hoop Shoot, a national basketball free-throw contest, is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 14 at Morgan County R-II Middle School in Versailles. The contest is conducted locally by Osage Community Elks Lodge #2705 in Laurie.
The top-three shooters in each age group (8-9, 10-11, 12-13), both boys and girls, receive plaques and basketballs.
First-place finishers advance to the next-level competition Saturday, Jan. 18 at Clinton Middle School in Clinton.
Students competing in Morgan County come from Morgan County R-I in Stover, Morgan County R-II in Versailles, Hurricane Deck Elementary, Lake West Christian Academy, and St. Paul Lutheran.
Any male or female student who is 8 to 13 years old as of April 1, 2019, is eligible to compete.
There is no pre-registration required, participants may simply arrive the day of the contest at Versailles Middle School.
