Delmar D. “Pete” Huff, 78, of Versailles, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.
He was born July 7, 1941 in Morgan County, a son of the late William Delmar and Frances (Porter) Huff.
He married Leanna R. (Campbell) Huff April 20, 1962, in Versailles. She survives of the home.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany.
While living in Kansas City, he worked as a Teamster. He also worked in construction many years and in maintenance at Cargill until he retired due to his health.
He attended First Assembly of God Church in Versailles and was a member of the American Legion Post 104 in Versailles.
He was a sportsman and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Karen Huff Longnecker and husband Eric of La Monte, Deanna Hodges and husband Daniel of Eldon, and Marilyn Mortenson of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Leonard “Butch” Huff and friend Martha of Kansas City; sister Laura “Susie” Hilkemeyer of Kansas City; stepbrothers Larry Lutman and wife Jeanie of Versailles, and Bill Lutman and friend Rita of Lake Ozark; stepsisters Byronita Gronstedt and husband Henry of Jefferson City, and Carmen Boatright and husband Ronnie of California, Mo.; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter.
A celebration of life observance with full military honors was Tuesday, Dec. 3, at First Assembly of God Church in Versailles, with the Rev. Ryan Mortenson and Pastor John Fransisco officiating.
A private family graveside service and inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Versailles American Legion Post 104 or any veteran organization of the donor’s choice.
