Dale F. Hilgar, age 82, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at his home. He was born February 22, 1937, in Butler, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Clarence and Stena (Thompson) Hilgar.
On October 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Dell (Pryor) Hilgar.
Dale was a United States Army veteran serving six years during the Korean Conflict.
He worked as a stone mason for many years. Dale was a deputy for the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement.
His favorite hobbies included deer hunting, fishing, playing solitaire, following politics and watching NASCAR.
Dale was a member of the Family Worship Center in Versailles.
In addition to his wife, Dell, he is survived by his children, Della Rush and friend, Melvin Hicks of Sedalia, Missouri, Darren Hilgar and wife Regina of Versailles, Missouri and Dave Hilgar of Versailles, Missouri; grandchildren, Melissa Blackburn, Heather Plewa, Kristy Hilgar, David Hilgar, Amanda Burdock and Derek Hilgar; eighteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Martin and his siblings, Jackie Hilgar, Margaret Bollinger, Betty Simler and Bob Hilgar.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21st, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Danny Owsley officiating.
The family received friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Versailles Cemetery.
