The Versailles boys cross country team finished in third place in the Class 1A-2A division of the Jim Marshall Invitational Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Cole County Fairgrounds in Jefferson City.
The Tigers scored 60 points. California was first with 38 points and Smithton came in second with 46 points.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Seth Newton, who was 10th overall with a time of 20:20.49 on the 5,000-meter course. Noah Dykzeul came in 12th in 20:44.73. William Taylor finished 14th in 20:51.61. Dagan Haggerman was 18th in 21:21.85 and Trent Hyman took 33rd place in 23:13.46. Caden Kirksey of California won the race in 17:58.78.
In the girls 5,000-meter race, Carmen Lemell finished eighth for the Lady Tigers with a time of 25:30.82. Sarah Kirby of California won the race in 22:57.00.
The cross country team’s next meet is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Linn Invitational in Linn.
