Versailles senior Ori Bartlett was tied for 31st after the first day of the MSHSAA Class 2 state golf championship Monday, May 13 at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.
Bartlett carded a 16 over par 88. Cole Elling of St. Pius X of Kansas City was the leader with a two under 70, four strokes ahead of Kal Kolar of Maplewood.
St. Pius X was the team leader after the first day of the tournament with a score of 341. Whitfield was second at 344. The Tri-County Conference has two schools in the team competition. Eldon, led by Aidan Wells with an 83, was sixth at 361 and California, led by Jordon Geiser’s 80, was seventh at 372.
Jacob Closser of Blair Oaks was tied for 23rd with an 86. Adam Wiseman of Southern Boone shot a 91 and was tied for 45th after the first day.
The tournament concluded Tuesday, May 14. Final results were not available at press time.
