The West Central Missouri Community Action Agency (WCMCAA) recently announced it is now serving the senior (65 years and older) population by offering referrals and case management services to seniors in Morgan, Cass, Bates, Vernon, Henry, St. Clair, Cedar, Benton, and Hickory counties.
The action agency no longer provides in-home care services. However, in March, when the COVID-19 pandemic began and Missouri put in place the stay-at-home order, the agency “wanted to make sure that our senior population was not forgotten.”
In response, WCMCAA started the Senior Care Program. Through this program the agency has been able to purchase home medical equipment; help with co-pays for larger home medical equipment, including wheel chairs; refer participants to a Medicare Advisor; assist with purchasing incontinence supplies; refer clients to Meals on Wheels and local food pantries; assist clients in locating transportation services; directed those in need to the West Central Weatherization and Home Repair Program; sent out LIHEAP applications; and helped with impending utility shutoffs; and more.
If someone is in need of the services offered by West Central Missouri Community Action Agency, call WCMCAA 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 660-476-2185 or visit their website:
