Army Sgt. Linwood Carman salutes Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall during the 2017 apple festival in Versailles. He was honoring a friend who was killed in the Vietnam War. Carman served in target acquisition from 1966 to 1967. “We looked for Charlie and let our battalion know their location,” Carman explained. His friend, Dellwyn Fitch, also served in the Army with the 101st Airborne. Fitch was killed after his entire squad walked into an ambush during a target acquisition mission. Of the Moving Wall he said, “It is great that we have this to honor the guys who didn’t come back.” (photo by Janet Dabbs)
