Norman Alva Grooms, 65, of Gravois Mills, died Thursday, July 6, 2017 at his home.
He was born Jan. 29, 1952 in Ainsworth, Neb., a son of the late Alva Edward and Vera Margaret (Davis) Grooms.
He married Suzanne Jo (Trotter) Boye Aug. 28, 1987 in Fremont, Neb.
He was raised in the Valentine, Neb. area and spent time in Kansas while his father worked construction. He lived in Yankton, S.D. then Fremont, Neb. before moving to Missouri in 2011.
He was a truck driver and later worked for Ace Hardware, where he eventually became a master service technician.
He and his son were active in the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed tinkering, especially on lawn mowers, doing carpentry, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; son Jeremy Grooms and wife Carol of Torrington, Wyo.; daughter Bonnie Grooms and friend Ivey Lesly of Yankton, S.D.; eight granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; stepchildren Darren Boye of Fremont, Neb., Lorri Boye of Fremont, Neb., and Kelly Russell of Lincoln, Neb.; sisters Margaret Kruse and husband Allen of Gurley, Neb. and Elaine Storms of O’Neill, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled 2 p.m., Friday, July 14, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, Neb.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
