Mikayla Letchworth, a senior at Versailles High School, attends Eldon Career Center (ECC) in the Health Occupations program. She was recently selected as this year’s Adient-sponsored ECC Triple “A” Student of the Year.
It was noticed by her teacher and career center faculty at the beginning of this school year that Letchworth was a stand-out student.
Her leadership qualities were identified and she ran for a SkillsUSA District office. She was selected as vice president.
She competed in SkillsUSA contests and achieved first place in Health Occupations Professional Portfolio at the State Leadership & Skills Conference Saturday, April 8 at State Technical College in Linn. This particular competition evaluates the ability of the student to present themselves to a prospective employer. They show the use of effective communication skills in presenting in two parts: a portfolio notebook and a live presentation by the contestant.
Letchworth earned a trip to nationals and will be competing June 19-24 in Louisville, Ky.
She also earned a trip to DECA International competition through the local chapter at Versailles High School. She has been a member of Morgan County R-II High School DECA for four years. She was a participant in District 5 DECA competition every year, State CDC participant for three years, and top 8 in state contest one year.
This year, she placed first at state CDC in Creative Marketing Plan with Timothy Roehrig and earned the privilege to attend International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, Calif. She served as a local DECA officer for the past two years.
Her future plans are to attend Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, majoring in psychology.
