Elmer Martin Redcay, 62, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
He was born March 27, 1955 in Lebanon, Pa., a son of the late Henry and Lizzie (Martin) Redcay.
He married Judith Wenger June 12, 1976 in Versailles.
He attended Garden Spot High School in New Holland, Pa. and then went to work for Hesston Corporation in Hesston, Kan. He was employed by Walmart Super Center in the produce department from 1990 until present.
In 1975, he accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 20 at Hesston Inter-Mennonite Fellowship by the Rev. Waldo Miller. In 1998, he became a member of First Church of God in Jefferson City, where he served as usher.
He was a member of the Jefferson City Jay Wrestling Booster Club, and the Jefferson City Jay Football Booster Club where he and his wife managed the concession stand for many years.
He enjoyed traveling with his sons throughout the United States to home and away Chiefs games and visiting relatives.
He is survived by his wife; children Nathan Redcay and wife Jennifer, of Jefferson City, Desireeí Schoenfeld and husband John of Jefferson City, Brandon Redcay and wife Traci of Holts Summit; sisters Lena Mae Weaver and husband Ivan of Newmanstown, Pa., Loella Garman and husband Lloyd of Myerstown, Pa., Elsie Beiler and husband Christ of Leola, Pa., Lizzie Leid and husband Aaron of Ephrata, Pa., Alta Stauffer and husband Eddie of Ephrata, Pa., Mabel Martin and husband Leon of Ephrata, Pa., Thelma Hurst and husband Vernon of Ephrata, Pa.; brothers Melvin Redcay and wife Donna of Bowmansville, Pa., Ivan Redcay and wife Abbie of Sarasota, Fla., Lester Redcay and wife Pearl of Mt. Hope, Pa., and Glenn Redcayand wife Sherry of Ephrata, Pa.; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Clarence Redcay and Henry Redcay Jr.
Visitation is scheduled 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at First Church of God, 1614 Southwest Blvd. in Jefferson City.
Funeral service is scheduled 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at First Church of God with Pastor Joe Gregory officiating.
Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 12764 Mt. Zion Rd. in Versailles.
Memorial contributions are suggested to First Church of God Envision Campaign or the Mt. Zion Cemetery Association.
