Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District personnel were dispatched to a natural cover fire 11:03 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 on Indian Park Road, off Lake Road F-10 in Sunrise Beach. According to Assistant Fire Chief Jamie Karl, dispatch reported a citizen saw two youths on a golf cart start the fire. The citizen then scared them off and then called 911. “Units found a small grass fire, and they were able to bring it under control and clear the scene in approximately 15 minutes,” said Karl. One truck and four firefighters responded to this call. The Camden County Sheriff’s Department would normally be the responding law enforcement agency, but Camden County Sheriff Lt. Arlyne Page said she was unaware of the incident.
