Arnold Dean Siler, 83, formerly of Versailles, died Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Manor Care Facility in Springfield.Arnold Dean Siler, 83, formerly of Versailles, died Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Manor Care Facility in Springfield. He was born Jan. 25, 1934 in Gasville, Ark., son of Mr. and Mrs. George Siler. He enlisted in the Air Force and served 20 years as an aircraft mechanic. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. He moved his family to Versailles where he continued to work on airplanes. He retired after receiving the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award from the Federal Aviation Administration for 50 years of outstanding service in his field. He enjoyed flying, riding his Goldwing, and watching M.A.S.H. He is survived by wife Betty of Springfield; son Jeff Siler and wife Connie of Gravois Mills; daughter Shana Sidebottom and husband Mark of Versailles; several stepchildren; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother George Siler; son David Siler; and Merilyn Siler, the mother of his children. A graveside service with military honors was Saturday, Sept. 23. Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles assisted with arranging military honors.
